Abstract: The volume conatins two parts of novel series "From the Earth to the Moon" and "Round the Moon". The novels tell of the daring cosmic journey of three friends (Captain Nicholl, Impey Barbicane and Michel Ardan), members of the Gun Club of Baltimore, who decided to overcome the earth's weight in a projectile fired from a giant Columbian cannon about 270 meters long, aimed at the moon. The start of the expedition was truly spectacular. Several million spectators came to Florida, the flame of the shot was observable to a distance of one hundred and sixty kilometers, all onlookers were knocked down, numerous injuries occurred, and temporary deafness was a frequent phenomenon. In the novel Around the Moon, the author describes the fates of the heroes from the moment of the shot throughout the flight. The reader thus experiences with them a state of weightlessness, which they experience when reaching the so-called "neutral line", where the Earth and the Moon are equally attractive, observes with them their impressions and observations made through binoculars and a missile window as they fly around the Moon, and finally witness a happy landing. projectile into the sea on Earth.
