Abstract: The story begins on July 26, 1864, when the crew of the yacht Duncan caught a hammerhead shark in the Northern Strait between Ireland and Scotland and discovered three incomplete documents in its bowels. They contained a report of the shipwreck of Britannia with Captain Grant and crew at 37 ° 11´ south latitude (longitude data were unfortunately illegible). The owner of the yacht, Lord Glenarvan, did not hesitate for a moment and set out with his wife, Captain John Mangles, Major Mac Nabbs, the distracted geographer Jacques Paganel, and Mary and Robert Grant, the children of a lost Scottish captain, on an adventurous rescue. The expedition passes through South America, Australia, New Zaeland through mountains, using small ships and yachts and they also fell into the hands of cannibals.
